Bi-Parting
Empennage Enclosure (BPEE)
Location:
Lockheed
Martin
Client:
Lockheed Martin
Aircraft Center, Inc.
This structure, completed
in 1996, is one of six BPEE's that allow two P-3 aircraft to be
fully enclosed in each hangar. This allowed the client to double
the number of aircraft that can fully enclose at on time. The BPEE
consists of two three-sided boxes "clamshells"
set on rails running parallel with the hangar doors. The
outer rail is surface mounted and the inner rail is suspended above
the structure to maximize clearances. DMC
provided concept design, engineering design, as well as supply,
fabrication, and construction of the structures.
